We love FIBER & Fiber ARTS!!! It’s our Passion and our Livelihood. Three generations of our family have come together to create a business to support and inspire fiber artists (old and new), help preserve and promote heritage arts and crafts and promote small farms producing fiber and fiber animals.
Our family has been raising prize winning wool sheep and working with fiber on Discovery Farm since 2006. It’s our mission to help people learn what to look for in a good fleece and how to process it to showcase the beauty of the fiber.
We enjoy taking the raw fiber and transforming it into products like roving, batts and yarn that will then be used to create beautiful heirloom items. We also enjoy hand-crafting wooden looms & weaving accessories and teaching workshops on felting, spinning, weaving and more. If you ever have a question about fiber, we hope you will give us a call.

Fearless Fibers is the brainchild of Nancy J. Nicholson. She started sewing at 8 and designing patterns at 16. She’s been creative her entire life, but college took her to the business world, then a husband took her sailing through the Eastern Caribbean for 12 years. After surviving the COVID shutdown with her fiber crafts, it was time to tackle the next breakthrough goal. Hence Fearless Fibers was born.
Fearless Fibers is a local and online yarn store bringing together fiber arts, including knit, crochet, spinning and weaving, designers, farmers, dyers and artist in partnership to inspire creativity, offer fiber therapy and outreach while building communities of support and learning.

We will try to organize a "Knit While You Walk the NC Art Museum" event or two, plus hold give-aways, special patterns, etc.
Every small town, including Davidson, needs a local yarn store. When ours closed, an empty space for fiber arts opened. The urge to try to fill that “space” was so strong that my daughters and I started planning a way to open a new kind of craft store.
We envisioned a shop that felt like home, where you could come and craft at any level, a place that encouraged and supported you in pursuing any art you chose.
Hearts on Fiber started with little more than an idea and a passionate mission to be so much more for our town.
By providing kits and tools for a range of fiber arts and the space to learn, we’ve created a comfortable home right downtown, built to inspire learning, exploring, community, and creativity.

We are a dye studio in Charlotte, NC, where we hand-dye all of our yarn. We strive to offer beautiful colors on bases your customers will love. We began Queen City Yarn with a love of offering beautiful handpaints paired with vibrant tonals. We have since expanded to offer specialty bases that have quickly become customer favorites.
Our most popular base is Coleman, a 65% Silk, 35% Linen blend that is a great DK weight base perfect for hot and humid summers, but also great for layering pieces in cooler months. Our other best seller is Latta, our sport weight, 100% Non-Superwash Merino/Rambouillet wool. Latta comes in multiple sizes, from petites to super skeins, making it a perfect choice for a contrast color or as the main color of your project.
You’ll still find us dyeing our original bases ranging from fingering-weight NoDa Sock to our newest fuzzy alpaca/silk blend, Bernice.
Our colors are inspired by our beautiful surroundings and the breathtaking places we have visited. While we dye each color to be beautiful on its own, we also strive to design coordinating colorways as well as colors that contrast beautifully with one another.
QCY is planning on opening up our private studio to show off our dye set up and having a table out front for customers to purchase whatever we have dyed up at the time and explore our various bases and colors we offer. We will have tonal (a single color mini) for your pattern and full 100g skeins of a handpaint we designed for this tour
